The day started out a bit rough.
I have had this trip planned, well the flight, for 2 months. December seemed very far away, back in September and very little had been done in regard to preparation for my winter vacation. Come December 16th, the 17th of December suddenly wasn’t that far away.
I am horrible at planning things and frankly, if someone else would do it for me, I would be quite pleased. Two days before this trip, I decided to get my backpack out and seeing it covered in mold, I figured it was a good idea to wash it. After washing it, it remained outside until last night.
Around the same time I found my backpack I also threw a few things I would need for the trip on the floor in the area I figured I would also throw the backpack. Last night, said backpack was brought in and also thrown on the floor. Last night I also threw a few more things on and around it in preparation for the following day’s departure.
Last night I decided it would be a good idea to listen to music, drink some adult beverages and focus on getting my Shuffle, iPod Touch and iPhone sorted out with music. Time flies when you are listening to music, and ‘sampling’ tequila.
The next morning I got out of the house a tad late. When I arrived at the airport, there was a very short line and I managed to get to the check-in counter quite quickly.
Apparently, a 6 month visa is needed to enter Thailand…. Mine expires in April.
After a slight delay, I signed a paper which promised I wouldn’t blame Thai Airways if I was refused entry into Thailand (I also told the girl there she wasn’t getting any omiyage if I was refused entry) and I was allowed to proceed through immigration. Immigration didn’t seem to care my visa was only valid for 3 months.
Business class is good (Thank you, Aeroplan) but they don’t seem to like when I bring my friends up. After 30 minutes or so, Tim and Sarah were asked to return to peasant class.
Interested to see if immigration will let me in. If they do, what kind of hassle will it be to enter Laos?
